The Issue of the EV: Is it Really Green and Good? Do Teslas Make the World a Better Place
Introduction
The electric vehicle (EV) has arrived and the 21st century is poised to be the century of the EV. However, there is still a great deal of controversy and confusion about what EVs actually do for the environment and if they are really as “green” as they are purported to be. Chad Berndt, a writer for Teslarati (a pro-Tesla site), boasts that Teslas are the greatest thing for the world since sliced bread in his article “A Tesla is Greener Than You Think and Getting Greener.” However, James Ellsmoor, writing for Forbes, begs to differ and argues in his article “Are Electric Vehicles Really Better For The Environment?” that all the strip mining for rare earth materials and petroleum that goes into producing the plastics and parts for Teslas outweighs the “green” effect…...

Hybrid Electric Vehicles
Pages: 4 Words: 1557

Electromagnetic Induction in Action: Hybrid Electric Vehicles
The interest in electric cars is certainly not new, but rather dates back to the early 19th century when inventors were actively searching for ways to build cars that would run on battery power only. Despite these early efforts, the internal combustion engine has predominated since that time and it has only been relatively recently that renewed interest in hybrid electric vehicles has emerged. These vehicles operate on battery power, but they can also use gasoline or diesel to augment the limited range provided by batteries only. This paper provides a review of the relevant literature concerning recent trends in hybrid electric vehicles to identify the role of electromagnetic induction and to determine the probable future of these technologies. A summary of the research and important findings about hybrid electric vehicles are provided in the conclusion.

Why EVs are Better than ICE Cars
Pages: 4 Words: 1305

The Superiority of Electric Vehicles Over Internal Combustion Engine VehiclesIntroductionDue to the popularity of Tesla and other electric car makers in recent years, the debate between electric vehicles (EVs) and internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles has grown steadily louder. Some supporters of ICE cars dismiss the EVs as novelties that lack a tried-and-true track record. However, this paper focuses on showing the advantages of EVs over their ICE counterparts, by relying upon academic and popular sources for information that will support the argument.Environmental BenefitsOne of the most compelling and important arguments for EVs is their environmental friendliness. According to Jason Garbutt of HotCars, "EVs have zero tailpipe emissions" (Garbutt). This is a considerable advantage when one thinks about the detrimental impact of exhaust emissions from ICE vehicles on air quality and climate change. If EVs can eliminate that pollution, then that is a big point in their favor. Based upon…...

The EV's Technological Disruption of Car Business
Pages: 4 Words: 1280

Disruptive InnovationIntroductionThe concept of disruptive innovation was first introduced by Clayton M. Christensen in the 1990s. In his research, Christensen argued that established companies could be overtaken by startups not because they mismanaged their business but due to the emergence of new, game-changing technologies or business models that radically altered the landscape. These disruptive innovations typically begin in niche markets before moving into the mainstream, gradually reshaping entire industries by making products and services more accessible and affordable. This paper will examine three examples of products or servicesnamely, streaming services like Netflix, electric vehicles like Tesla, and ride-sharing platforms like Uberthat have been based on disruptive innovations and that are a part of my life.Netflix and the Streaming RevolutionThe first disruptive innovation to consider is the advent of streaming services, specifically Netflix. The service, initially launched in 1997 as a mail-based DVD rental service, transformed into a streaming giant by…...

EV Market Business Opportunity Analysis Report
Pages: 8 Words: 2311

Overview The electric vehicle (EV) market has received a considerable boost in recent years thanks in no small part to the rise of Tesla and its Model 3. However, while Tesla is basically a luxury EV manufacturer and most other automakers in the business are approaching the EV design with a tendency towards luxury over affordability, the idea behind this venture is to provide a cheap, high-quality EV to consumers that is practical, appealing, and safe. Considering that internal combustion engine (ICE) cars have reached a plateau in terms of how much further advanced they can get, and the EVs from Tesla, VW, Porsche and other firms are all going after the luxury consumer market, there is room for an innovate EV idea that will transform the entire industry just as the first car transformed the horse and buggy industry. This idea aims to be disruptive. The product will be called…...

Infrastructure for EVs is Lacking along with Consumer Demand
Pages: 4 Words: 1230

Policy MemoTo: The Committee on Climate ChangeFrom: XX-XXSubject: Recommendations for Policy on Climate ChangeIntroductionClimate change is a pressing issue that requires immediate attention from policymakers. The Earth's climate is changing rapidly, with devastating effects on ecosystems, economies, and human health. The United Nations (UN) reports that the world needs to reduce its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 45% by 2030 to prevent the worst impacts of climate change (IPCC, 2022). Failure to address this issue could have catastrophic consequences for future generations. However, the lack of access to rare earth minerals poses a significant challenge to the production of green energy solutions. The demand for these minerals has grown rapidly in recent years, driven in part by the transition to renewable energy sources. Furthermore, the infrastructure for EVs is not yet sufficient, and safety concerns about the instability of lithium batteries have led to consumer reluctance (Faizal et al., 2019).…...

Gas Powered Cars are Superior to Electric Vehicles
Pages: 4 Words: 1321

Why Gas Vehicles are Better than Electric VehiclesElectric vehicles (EVs) are touted as being the best option for reducing carbon emissions and saving the planet with regards to daily transportation. Yet when one looks at it, one can see that gas vehicles are actually better for the planet in many ways and do not require a total overhaul of the national infrastructure. There are other reasons EVs are problematic as well: for one thing, drivers of EVs have to deal with range anxietyi.e., not being able to go as far as they may like without having to stop somewhere and recharge for a long amount of time. Another problem with EVs is that if everyone were to switch to them, there is simply not enough resources in the world to cope with the demand. This essay will argue and explain, therefore, why gas vehicles are better than electric vehicles in…...

Technology for Hybrid Vehicles Is Proven to
Pages: 4 Words: 1347

technology for hybrid vehicles is proven to work, we as a nation should only build and sell hybrid vehicles to help reduce the damage done to the nation's air quality. Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEVs) have reached the point that they are affordable for most drivers, they use less energy, and they are cleaner than gasoline and diesel powered vehicles. These vehicles make sense for today and for the future, and Americans need to recognize the importance of saving the environment over their attachment to large, fuel inefficient vehicles. As a nation, the people should support and demand that automakers only build and sell HEVs. It is time to take the nation's air quality into our own hands, and demand carmakers take responsibility for the decrease in air quality standards in America today.
Hybrid electric vehicles have been talked about for many years. It is only in the last decade that…...

I do that every day. ut I've never done that with a car. I buy what I need to look successful. esides, how would I ever calculate a payback when I have no idea what gasoline will cost in the future?" A few said with apparent certainty, "one year" or "two years." However, when we inquired where the number came from, they simply asserted that they spent lots of money on gasoline and would quickly earn their money back through savings. A smaller group proposed longer terms -- eight to ten years -- noting that they keep their cars for a long time. Several households explained that their lack of attention to gas costs was due to the fact that they felt they couldn't do anything about it; they had to drive as much as they did to lead the lives they had constructed for themselves." How Do Electric Cars Affect the Environment
Pages: 2 Words: 671

How Do Gas-Powered Cars Affect the Environment?According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), gas-powered cars are one of the most significant sources of emissions that contribute to global warming in the United States. In the United States alone, transportation-related emissions are responsible for 29% of greenhouse gas emissions, making it the largest contributing sector to climate change (Carbon Pollution from Transportation). Despite the development of electric vehicles, hybrid cars, and the development of more fuel-efficient vehicles, the transportation sectors contribution to global warming increased more than any other sector from 1990 to 2019 (Carbon Pollution from Transportation).Car use can also have significant impacts upon the general infrastructure of the nation, requiring the building of major highways that can result in noise pollution and disruption of natural habitats.
