Personal Interests Life Should Never Be Limited
Pages: 2 Words: 540

Personal Interests
Life should never be limited to just a few activities, and I have two interests/activities that I take great enjoyment in. One is in the development of various technologies and information regarding these technologies, including the development (with a few friends) of an mp3 system for people to use to share audiobooks -- the fact that I can put my knowledge and skills to practical ends that enable people to share information is very exciting to me. I also enjoy playing the piano, which is very different from working with computers as there is total freedom in what "works" and what can be explored.

While everyone has some sort of activity they engage in just for fun, there are several such activities that I engage in with this enthusiasm. One of these, which is fairly closely related to my education, is the development of various technologies and gathering knowledge…...

Ethical Reflection in Weighing Your Personal Interests
Pages: 2 Words: 574

ethical reflection in weighing your personal interests against the objective responsibilities of your administrative role. Then, describe the ethical dilemma you selected, and include whether it represents conflict of authority, interest, or roles and explain why.
Administrative responsibility and conflict

Administrators are objectively responsible for the actions of their subordinates, and for the actions of the organization as a whole (Cooper 2012: 73). Public administrators have additional responsibilities to their constituents, the taxpayers and to the law itself. Unfortunately, these diverse responsibilities can conflict. Additionally, perceptions of responsibility of the individual administrator, based upon his or her own personal code of conduct, can be subjective. Given this myriad, diverse responsibilities, it is rare when all cohere and point the administrator down a specific course.

One conflict occurred when an individual in my department was clearly overwhelmed by her family and personal responsibilities to the point where it was impacting her work and…...

I was under pressure from my own superiors to vigorously enforce standards regarding coming to work on time and to generally improve the quality of service. I solved the conflict by talking to her and explaining to her the need to delegate responsibilities at work when she was overcommitted at home. I also talked to her about family leave policy and part-time options. We were able to reduce her hours and enable her to use her vacation time to enable her to get her life back on track. However, this is an example of how an administrator's responsibilities to the organization can conflict with his or her sense of personal loyalty.

This conflict was primarily one of roles: the conflict between one's role as a personal friend and as an administrator. Compassion must be balanced with practical demands. Another good example of this is seen in Cooper (2012), in which a municipal administrator is forced to choose between extending an improvement loan to a derelict, elderly person's home that likely cannot be rehabilitated, and forcing the elderly woman to leave the residence, at great compromise to her physical and mental health (Cooper 2012: 92). Often, there are no 'good' and answers when two competing ethical systems are at war. The point-of-view of the public administrator tends to be utilitarian in nature and strives to accomplish the greatest good for the greatest number of people. On a personal level, we are far more likely to deploy a subjective analysis, based upon our compassion and personal morality, or at very least a deontological system of principle, such as "it is wrong to fire a good employee of years of service during a time of personal crisis.'

There are no easy ethical formulas that work under all circumstances. On one hand, administrators must ultimately serve institutions that are 'bigger'

My Personal Interest in a Career in Information Technology IT

information technology skills I acquired through the military are transferable to civilian situations. The 20 years I gave to the military have placed me in a wide variety of situations quite different from what others might encounter in civilian life.
My experience in the U.S. Navy has allowed me to learn new skills in the information technology field and I have been able to apply them in new situations. The future for me after the military has been decided after a careful analysis of the way the military is currently structured and how a projection into the future bodes for me. Chomsky warns of ideological motivations of some scientific paradigms, just as with the aforementioned racial emphasis of early anthropology. Here, Russell espouses a Platonic episteme by enunciating the expectations of behavior between different classes. While Plato philosophized that persons are born with the characteristics fitting of their caste, Russell envisages a society in which "ordinary" men and women are expected to be collectivized and, therefore, devoid of individual expression.

Jean Jacques Rousseau paid his respects to the philosophy of Plato, although he thought it impractical, citing the decayed state of society. This sort of romanticism has been downplayed by the modern scientific establishment, who denounce the noble savage theory of human nature. Humans are not born purely good, modern science maintains. Instead, evolutionary traits are promoted at the biological level, thereby giving rise to how people are. It is not society that corrupts, but rather an interrelationship between human tendencies…...

Personal Circumstances
Even the perfect adolescence would be difficult -- it's hard to imagine young life today, in even the kindest of families, without struggles about identity, without fights about determining what one's future vocation might be, and simply arguing with one's parents. These are all typical pursuits of the typical adolescent, to say nothing of self-imposed and socially imposed academic pressures, and the pressures of preparing one's resume for college.

And my adolescence was far from perfect or typical.

Still, success in school has always been of great importance to me. I have always desired to become an art major, and eventually pursue a career in architecture. I have always wished to become a successful professional, and to learn more about the study of beauty and self-expression through the medium of art. I have always been aware that the only way for me to enlarge my personal interests in an intensely intellectual…...

Pages: 8 Words: 2505

Hoffman and Moore (2004) recommend training and communication as part of the implementation plan to improve ethical behavior. As part of the resolution process when facing ethical dilemmas, retraining on ethical standards and practices, legal ramifications, regulatory compliance/guidelines and code of conduct are imperative. Therefore, even if other values are not considered, at least the most important ones will be considered during the problem-solving process.
Applications

I strongly believe in the ethical leadership skills of my immediate supervisor. As we all know, great leadership does not occur in a vacuum. Very often, it is by observing admirable leaders that people learn to become good leaders in their own right. Therefore I have a spent some observing the most inspirational leader in my selected organization: my boss. He knows when to delegate and when to take control; he knows how to motivate employees through a balance of reward and reprimand; and most…...

Personal Success I Do Not

Ideally, I hope that my formal education will enable me to identify the best use of my natural talents and interests so that my eventual career goals allow me to pursue a direction that is intrinsically fulfilling, but in some field or position where my work also serves a purpose that is worthwhile in terms of accomplishing something more than making a profit. I would consider my life to have been "successful" to the extent I was able to provide for my family's needs and also contribute something meaningful to others as well. Personal and Professional Change Over

These authors add that with respect to this exemplary leadership quality, "Although a significant difference existed by gender, both men and women rated challenging the process as their least developed leadership skill" (p. 259). This also means that people must be willing to take personal and professional risks, including speaking up for what they believe in the workplace, but the cost-benefit analyses that are routinely used by winners can help establish the framework in which such pursuits are achievable.
Such intuitive decisions may be valuable in the workplace when someone's experience and intellect combine to produce consistently positive outcomes, but it is reasonable to suggest that many successful business leaders take their time in formulating decisions about many of the complex issues they encounter on a day-to-day basis, but in some cases, time is of the essence and what "seems more right" will have to do. People with fine-tuned senses…...

Emotive Meaning of Ethical Terms" -- Part II
Part II of Charles Leslie Stevenson's "The Emotive Meaning of Ethical Terms" is meant to be a continuation of the first part of the text -- an account in which he presents a general understanding of the idea of "good" as seen from and ethical and a philosophical point-of-view. The writer proceeds with providing his personal perspective on the matter in the second part of the text. Even with the fact that Stevenson wants readers to gain a complex understanding of what "good" is as seen from a general point-of-view, he seems unhesitant about opening people's eyes with regard to the subjectivity behind this concept.

I feel that Stevenson uses the text as a means to both emphasize the idea of good as being something that can be universal and as being something that is too subjective to be defined. To a certain…...

Personal Perspective on Changes That Occur Throughout Early, Middle, And Late Adulthood
One of the more interesting things about aging is just how differently people go about the process. In my experience, many people seem to grow older and change very little from their early to late adulthoods as a result, keeping the same interests, friends, spouse, home and job for years and years. For instance, I know one elderly widower, "Mark," who has conducted petroleum engineering seminars in several states nine months a year for more than 30 years. Besides some minor administrative work and continuing education, Mark has the rest of the year to himself and he participates in a number of leisure and recreational activities, some of which he takes seriously. For instance, Mark is still an accomplished ballroom dancer despite his somewhat advanced age (73 years), and he has played tournament bridge games in Las Vegas with…...

PESONAL & OGANIZATIONAL ETHICS
Personal and Organizational Ethics Values for, for-Profit and Non-Profit Organizations

Ethics is a requirement of the society to both individuals and organizations. Ethics are applied to business and personal behaviors, and are used to determine how companies and individuals abide to policies. To indicate the application of ethical principles in organizations, an analysis is carried out of For-Profit and Non-For-Profit organizations, in this case Bank of America and Boys Club of America. This is by analyzing an ethical dilemma they are experiencing, their approach to the problem, and the legal, political, and social outcomes emerging from this cause of action.

Part One

The Boys Clubs of America is a non-for-profit organization founded in 1860s in Harford, Connecticut Formed with the aim of giving boys who roamed the streets a positive alternative. The club has undergone major changes beginning in 191 when several boys' clubs affiliated to form the federated boys…...

I need a thesis statement for my topic accounting ethics?
Words: 390

Accounting ethics are incredibly important because accountants are entrusted with handling money for individuals, businesses, and other organizations.  Unethical accountants can expose a business to financial risks and liabilities, even if their breaches of ethics do not amount to criminal behavior or involve intentional wrongdoing on the part of the accountant.  Huge financial scandals, such as Enron, could not occur without ethical breaches on the part of the accountants because the financial structure of large organizations requires at least passive participation in wrongdoing by people at the accountant level.  Accountant ethics are....
