Parents develop parenting styles that largely determine the type of parent-child relationship and the levels of development of children in various skills and competencies. Within this discipline, the family context is conceived as a system that includes ways of mutual influence, direct and indirect, between its members. Parenting styles and family interaction patterns influence virtually in all spheres of life of an individual development: behavioral skills and aspects of personality, in their ways of interacting with the community, and even at the level of success or failure in special education. Parenting style can contribute directly to long-term developmental outcomes in any child. This is particularly true where children with special needs are concerned. Accordingly, the present discussion and Literature Review are dedicated to exploring the impact that different parenting styles are likely to have on achievement levels amongst special needs children.

Alcoholism is an increasing problem in our youth, especially college freshman students. Where pressure and a desire to act as an independent individual is overwhelming enough to force these students to opt for excessive alcohol usage. Parenting style is one important element which shapes a child perception and behavior in their mature years. The various parenting styles such as authoritarian, authoritative, permissive, and uninvolved parenting styles among others can influence a child in many different ways depending on the parenting style which is used.

The research study, "What do I think about what I do?" by Elena Stephan of Bar Ilan University invites the participant to consider a given activity and how they think or relate to it. For example, the survey poses activities like watching an amusing video online, reading a funny article on the Internet, playing a new computer game or reading on the Internet about a subject which is important to one and asks the participant to think about these activities answering questions like "To what extent does this activity require you to exert self control?" and "To what extent does this activity require you to be aware of yourself?" and "To what extent is this activity related to important people in your life?" and "To what extent is this activity a good way to distract yourself from daily concerns?" and "To what extent does this activity give you a sense of personal accomplishment and value?" and "To what extent is this activity normally enjoyable for you?" as well as "To what extent is this activity difficult to perform?"

This research paper is based on Baumrind's theory of parenting and covers the impact and consequences of different parenting styles on children's development extensively. Four parenting styles named authoritarian, authoritative, permissive, and uninvolved are discussed in detail. This paper also discusses parenting style of Canada, Japan and China in contrast with Baumrind's theory of parenting. All the impacts and influences on parenting style are deeply studied and discussed.
