Other schools do not specify which courses an aspiring med student needs to have taken, but merely emphasize that students should have a strong background in math and science. In addition to hours of specialized nursing courses that focus on patient care, professional issues, and detailed medical knowledge, nurses need generalized knowledge in chemistry, anatomy, nutrition, physiology, statistics, microbiology, and developmental psychology.

Medical billing and coding are complex issues, which change as the laws and healthcare providers change.
