Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act of 1994
Abstract
The effects of the Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act continue to be felt, two decades since its enactment. The aspects of community policing and community prosecution, which society benefits from today, trace their roots to the Violent Crime Control Act. This text examines the provision of community policing, particularly the ‘100,000 Cop’ initiative, and then demonstrates how the Act, in its entirety, affects the justice system in the State of California today.
