Theory is a set of ideas that once implemented become practice. When looking at theory, it is important to see how it can be developed into practice and what some of the drawbacks are how they may occur.

As a North American Mission Board national missionary and associate director of the Center for Church Planting at Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary, David Wheeler is eminently qualified to speak on matters of spiritual study, and his jointly authored book The Great Commission to Worship: Biblical Principles for Worship-Based Evangelism demonstrates an extreme aptitude for biblical interpretation and modern empirical inquiry. His co-author Vernon M. Whaley serves as Director of the Center for Worship and Chairman of the Department of Music and Worship Studies at Liberty University, both positions which require a true commitment to evangelical teaching on a societal level. Together, this pair of highly educated religious instructors combine to create a lasting contribution to one of Christianity’s most ofte-repeated debates; between the Great Commission given to the Church as an institution and the Great Commandment given to every human being on an individual basis. The questions posed immediately by Wheeler and Whalen in their opening chapter (“The Mandate of Worship and the Great Commission”) are compelling on many levels, as the authors ask “how do we develop a strategy for evangelism that does not exclude or responsibility to engage in worship?”

Psychological disengagement represents a coping mechanism used to resist negative evaluations. Ethnic minority students tend to disengage by devaluing the academic domain, which allows them to resist the negative impact poor grades have on their self-esteem. For ethnic majorities, disengagement can take the form of situation-specific discounting of a single grade or course. For high academic achievers, disengagement allows the student to persist in the face of adversity, but for low academic achievers disengagement can lead to the wholesale rejection of academic success and high rates of dropping out, but such patterns vary by ethnicity. This research report examines the relationship between academic performance and self-esteem for a small number of New York City college students and reveals that the pattern of disengagement along racial lines is anything but predictable.

This paper discusses the different cultural communication orientations of Germany and the United States from the perspective of someone doing business with both nations. Both are low-context cultures, but Germany tends to prioritize power distances and tradition more than the U.S. It is also a more risk-adverse society that values privacy.

This order reflects on the family dynamic seen in the film "Little Miss Sunshine." The Hoovers are a dysfunctional family that are pretending to be normal, although they clearly are not. Led by an insecure father, they have no support for one another. Through the daughter's journey, the family learns to accept each other and themselves, thus empowering them and allowing them to support each other in a much healthier way.
