The concept of nature is examined and discussed in two works: the poem "The St. Lawrence and the Saguenay" by Charles Sangster and the novel "White Noise" by Don DeLillo. Both works are examined for what they say about human alienation from the natural world. In Sangster, human alienation from nature is conceived of positively---as a way of returning to ideas of God and of human love. In DeLillo, the alienation from nature is almost complete: technology has become a replacement, and language and thought are evasive and anxiety-ridden.

Leocadio Sirenito, a 15 year old street boy living on the streets of San Juan is rescued by Martha Divine, who, recognizing that he has a golden voice and extraordinary beauty provides him with chanteuse-gowns for his auditions and introduces him as a diva. She also pretends to be his mistress and introduces him as Serena Selena. Divine is attracted to Selena for she sees in him patterns of correspondence to her own life. Whilst auditioning at one of the upper class hotels in the Dominican Republic, Selena is discovered by Hugo Graubel, a wealthy investor of that hotel who married and with children has his own story. This essay is a critique of that tale.

The paper is divided into two sections. The overall focus of the paper is the examination of specific characteristics indigenous of film and media in the digital age. Some of the terms of focus are remediation, editing, and digitization. Part 1 is an explanation of two terms. Part 2 is a meditation on the interconnectivity of various terms.

An analysis of David Bordwell's definition of art cinema through an explication of "The Art Cinema as a Mode of Film Practice." This analysis is compared to Martin Esslin's definition of the absurdist theatre in "The Theatre of the Absurd." Both Bordwell and Esslin ultimately argue that art film and absurdist theatre share similar elements that allow them to break from classical interpretations of narratives in their respective mediums. Additionally, ambiguity--as defined by Bordwell--is analyzed in terms of Ingmar Bergman's 1966 film Persona.

This paper consists of two questions. The first deals with the Shakespeare play "Macbeth." It asks the question of what would have happened had Shakespeare written the story in a different way, namely that Macbeth was an heroic figure rather than a villain. The second question deals with a poem and about the mask that all people wear to hide their true selves.
