Xm-25 The Best News That Has Ever Essay

XM-25 The best news that has ever happened to the combat war is the manufacturing of the XM-25 which has been widely viewed to be the gun that will forever change the combat wars in Afghanistan and other areas. This is a weapon that has been famed for the ability to kill enemies hidden behind walls without necessarily bringing down the walls.

In 2010, the army based in Afghanistan unveiled the prototype of this grenade launcher that is programmable and is considered to be 'smart'. It is a shoulder fired weapon that uses the microchip in exploding ammunition as well as in targeting and killing the enemy. It is said that the only way to escape the wrath of this weapon is to be in and enclosed thick walled bunker.

The XM25 has a counter defilade target engagement system that fires the 25 mm air-bursting shells to a range of up to 700 meters. This brings it closest to the grenade launcher. This range is definitely greater that most rifles that are used by the army in Afghanistan (Joshua Norman, 2010).

The make is quite elaborate with sights, lasers and sensors embedded in a (TAFC) Target Acquisition Fire Control that is located at the top, it also has an oversized magazine behind the trigger mechanism and an oversized barrel wrapped inside a recoil dampening sleeve (Lt. Col. Christopher Lehner, 2009).

The weapon has been tested several times in the U.S.A. And prototype presented to the battle front in Afghanistan and is therefore expected to be rolled out in mass over 2012 according to Lt. Col. Christopher Lehner. This massive rollout will be to the tune of 12,500 XM25s going out to Afghanistan which means each infantry squad and the Special Forces team will be able to have one of these weapons in their possession.
One of the aspects that makes this weapon a game changer in the combat war is the fact that it is around 300 times more efficient and accurate than the conventional firearms of the same size. This accuracy is achieved due to the presence of the sensors and lasers that will display the distance that the target is at, air pressure, the surrounding temperature and the relevant ballistics before launching the 25mm resulting in high accuracy (Michael Mathes, 2010).

This is the weapon of choice for fighting an enemy who is behind some barrier like a wall, hiding in the trenches, behind walls or even inside buildings. This it can achieve through the way it is formatted to function. The soldier may be in a situation where he is confronted by an insurgent who…
