¶ … health profession that I am considering is respiratory therapist. Respiratory therapists care for patients who have trouble breathing; for example, from a chronic respiratory disease, such as asthma or emphysema. They also provide emergency care to patients suffering from heart attacks, stroke, drowning, or shock (OOH)
O-Net online lists basic tasks of a RT as the following:
Assess, treat, and care for patients with breathing disorders. Assume primary responsibility for all respiratory care modalities, including the supervision of respiratory therapy technicians. Initiate and conduct therapeutic procedures; maintain patient records; and select, assemble, check, and operate equipment
What we have here then is a combination of patient skills with rigorous attention to order and organization as well as to details. The RT has to be self -- disciplined and enjoy working according to rules. She has to be responsible and able to follow orders. Some administrative and leadership capacity is required since she has to take the innovative in certain aspects and supervise others. She also has to enjoy a solid and stable routine.
Many aspects of my MBTI support this job as suitable for me. Personality description from the choices survey (facts.org) suggests that I enjoy leading or managing other people; that I am conventional ( organizer); enjoy systematic, step-by-step work; like to keep things orderly; Prefer working in stable environments with predictable routines; and am Detail -oriented and persistent. I may also describe myself as efficient or dependable; Often respond well to competition and enjoy leading teams; as well as that I am energetic.
Other conclusions of the MBTI are however way off in that it concludes that I am willing to take risk; Value status, power, money and material possessions; and am ambitious or energetic. It therefore concludes that I could be a skilled manager / executive as well as good in banking.
Even though these professions of accountant and ASM do contain aspects of my character,
I chose to be a respiratory therapist. It incorporates many, although not all, of the characteristics and skills mentioned by the assessment.
