¶ … educators working with students through the team approach. This is when staff members are utilizing a host of concepts to improve learning comprehension. When it comes to special education, this idea has been relied on to help with the increased challenges that educators will face in dealing with these students. Evidence of this can be seen with observations from McIntosh (2011) who observed, "Special education classes include a variety of physical and mental exercises for students. Working with others will help educators to use their abilities as well as those of team members to accomplish various tasks. During this process is when they will learn to build relationships." (Adams, 2011) This is significant, in showing how teamwork is an essential ingredient for dealing with special needs children. At the heart of this strategy, is encouraging everyone to have a strong working relationship. This is when everyone can use the combined skills of the group to effectively reach out to these students.

How can you increase the awareness of these groups on the implementation of transition plans and ensure that various professionals have a more clear understanding of the goals, strategies, programs, and assessments of a transition plan?

The best way to increase awareness of these different groups requires having a good communication strategy. This means that various members of the team must be able to work with each other in implementing a strategy that will take into account a host of issues. The best way that this can be achieved is to have regular meetings with everyone in discussing philosophy and tactics. The idea is to identify what kinds of tools can be utilized by staff members on a regular basis to improve learning comprehension. During this process, is when everyone will be able to communicate different viewpoints on how to achieve a host of objectives. Once this takes place, is when a committee will be formed with educators from the various teams. Their job is to create a series of polices that will help to improve the kinds of techniques that are used in the classroom. This is when everyone will have clearer understanding of the goals, strategies and programs. The assessment of the transition plan will occur with a consultant conducting a survey to determine the weaknesses of the strategy and how it can be improved. They will make recommendations to the committee about the best way to implement these changes. This is the point that the committee will be able to adapt their policies and procedures to real world transformations.

Describe the role of an advocate in the IEP process. When might an advocate be necessary?

An individual education program (IEP) is when the parents and educators of disabled students are working with them to create a customized learning strategy. During this process, the role of an advocate can be another educator, who is encouraging everyone to take a more active interest in the child's education. They have a responsibility of pushing educators and parents to work with the student in reaching their individual goals. This will take place inside the classroom and at home. ("Individual Education Programs," 2011)
