Motivation and Performance

The role of peer support is critical within a district or organization. Suggest at least three ways using reference citations that a teacher leader can motivate colleagues to a higher level of performance

Over the last several decades, the role of the educators has been constantly changing. The reason why this is occurring; is because there have been budgetary strains placed on them and they have a large number of duties. The combination of these factors means that teachers are now serving as someone who is helping to motivate their colleagues. To fully understand the best approach that can be used in achieving these objectives requires looking at various strategies on this subject. Once this takes place, is when everyone will have more specific insights about how they can help to encourage other staff members, in doing more to reach out to their students. This is the point that the overall quality of education will improve dramatically. ("Intrinsic Motivation," 2004) (Moore, 1991)

Strategies for Motivating Colleagues

There are several different techniques that can be used to increase motivation levels inside an educational environment these include: encouraging everyone to work together, improved communication and having some kind of incentives for those who are doing more. Encouraging everyone to work together is when you are reaching out to other educators. The basic idea behind this approach is to establish some kind of effective leadership on the issue. The only the way that this can be achieved is by talking about how everyone needs to do more. Once this takes place, is when you will find similar individuals that share in your basic philosophy of education. This is the point that various alliances could be formed that will help to create workable standards for everyone to follow. ("Intrinsic Motivation," 2004) (Moore, 1991)

Improved communication is when you are discussing with various colleagues how to effectively reach out to students. This will lead to a host of conversations about the best techniques that can be used to improve achievement levels. Over the course of time, this will help everyone to identify specific tools that can be used to: increase motivation and test scores. This is when these ideas will have a major impact upon an educational environment. ("Intrinsic Motivation," 2004) (Moore, 1991)

Having some kind of incentives, is when you are offering colleagues a reason to want to change. This is because most teachers will often believe that they have the experience and skills necessary to reach out to their students. However, the problem is that many individuals will often become set in their ways and will not change. This is when they could have difficulty in reaching out to the class. Once this takes place, it means that there will be a decrease in achievement scores. To deal with these kinds of issues, you must have some kind strategy of offering everyone a reason to change. Where, they will see: the value that it is providing to them over the long-term and the pain associated with continuing to embrace the status quo. ("Intrinsic Motivation," 2004) (Moore, 1991)
