Traditional Fashion In France Essay

France Throughout the course of history, fashion has been used as a form of expression and to define social customs / traditions. In some cases, this is occurring with it serving as a symbol of the larger ideas that are most important to specific ethnic groups, religions, nationalities and gender. The result is that numerous concepts will be interpreted differently, depending upon the perspectives that are taken. To fully understand what is occurring requires focusing on contemporary styles in France in conjunction with the most popular trends. This will be accomplished by looking at the period, designers, unique styles and its contributions to culture. Together, these elements will illustrate the long terms effects of these individuals on this society. (North, 1998) (Lazzari, 2011)

Fashion in France

In France, everyone is free to determine their own fate. During this process, is when they will give up a certain amount of freedom. This is because they are a part of society, who is following different laws, in maintaining some kind of social order. At the heart of this structure, is a basic social contract. This involves the general population and its views on freewill. While at the same time, the government is responsible for safeguarding them and these basic rights.

These ideas are showing how self-determination will have an impact if the people are willing to make drastic changes to the form of government they live under. The artists from this period are embracing these attributes in order to change attitudes, status quo and question its legitimacy.
This changed society's values with these ideals becoming a reflection of the liberal attitudes embraced in France. These shifts became more pronounced during the 20 years, with many people abandoning the aristocracy in favor of self-determination. The result is that these views became a part of French society with subsequent leaders following them.
