Total Quality Management Companies worldwide are looking out for appropriate management tools to help them cope with various tasks that must be considered when managing assets, employees, goals and profits. A number of tools are available, which help companies achieve these goals. The most widely used are TQM (Total Quality Management) and ISO. TQM, as a management system, requires that the technologies and tools must be properly managed within each department. ISO is management systems that monitors the data and functions of a particular organization n. this system functions on a monitoring basis to assist understand the appropriate balance required (Rao & Sivaramakrishna, 2008). This paper looks at how TQM and ISO can be used to improve an organization.

TQM and ISO have key features to organizational development grounded on customer focus to satisfy customer requirements, people-oriented to motivate staff, leadership skills to lead the organization and process understanding to grasp every step of manufacturing. Both concepts take care of quality of services and products without giving priority to price of the product. A vital element of TQM is its philosophy towards continuous improvement of the business and products. This theory is that if businesses can solely concentrate on product, an organization can never identify what is working or not working within the system. The primary focus of TQM is on quality of processes. Managers can emphasize processes in their companies- communicating, goal setting, image building, decision-making and staff training, rather than just the final product (Rao & Sivaramakrishna, 2008).
Just like TQM, a good foundation creates a good business and ISO is a good foundation for most businesses organizations that desire to increase profits. By adopting a quality management system such as TQM and ISO, costs and the quality of processes will increase because of the decrease in inefficiency within an organization. Additionally, an organization will be able to advertise its use of the universally recognized ISO. This creates business opportunities, which were not available before the implementation of an objectively verified quality management system.
