Public Agencies

Interaction with the Department of Veterans Affairs as a Public Agency recently encountered the Department of Veterans Affairs in the capacity of helping a family member receive care at a Veterans hospital. The action of the agency was that of providing health care and support services to a veteran.

The Department of Veterans Affairs is a Federal agency (Department of Veterans Affairs 2006; Hall 2006). According to Hall (2006), the actions of the Department of Veterans Affairs fall under the Executive Branch of government. Therefore, the President and Vice President of the United States oversee the agency. Additionally, the authority of the actions of the agency are overseen by the Executive Branch and, indirectly, by the President and Vice President of the United States.

Although this action was at the local level, the financial backing and authority of the Department of Veterans Affairs is at the Federal level (Hall 2006). The actions of the agency are considered executive and federal actions. They are not considered state or local. Also, they are not legislative or judicial actions (Hall 2006).
