It is because of the intentions set out by the people that it has become the concern of the states to institute laws that govern the use of drugs. Some drugs can be used for positive purposes while others serve the negative roles in the society. It is the expectation of everyone in charge of governance to ensure that there is a policy on drugs that meets the expectations of those who are interested in securing a better chance to grow. In most cases, there is a growing concern over what the people see as the balance between good and evil. This paper gives the merits and demerits of legalization on drugs.

Importance of Legalization

Legislation on drug abuse gives the government the chance to control the use of drugs and it help in controlling the type and the amount of drugs that is used by the public. Too much usage of drugs is harmful to the users and the society as a whole. The type of drug used also determines the effects felt. In any case, it is important to develop a modality where everyone can make better decisions depending on the drugs that he or she take. On the type of drug used, it is important to ensure that there is a law that guides the specific type of drug in use. It is the responsibility of all those in leadership to step in and regulate the type of drug that is being consumed in the public (Gordon, 2014). An Act will ensure that this regulation and enforcement is possible. In any case, that touches on the public's ability to develop concepts that relate to the ability to execute the usage of drugs.

The legislation offers the leadership of country the chance to handle much of the populations consumes and meets the future desires for stable governance. The role played by the leadership of the day revolves around making the people within a country live peacefully. It is also possible to influence positive actions from the masses by legislating on their habits and their desires (Peters, 2009). In all instances, there can be a better way of handling the feelings and desires of people by involving them in plans that surround the plans of all people. It is also expected that all the individuals who have what it takes to surround themselves with the relevant people have a chance to grow structurally in the society. Most of the people who have the chance to make independent decisions and choices over what to indulge in need a direct influence on the government for them to tow the line of responsibility concerning drug abuse. It always the responsibility of those in charge of governance and policy making to ensure that there is a way of making better decisions based on the growing need to stabilize societies. It is the concern of everyone to ensure that all the interests are brought to a centralized position. As an interested party, a parent always comes in the path of implementation of this legislation on drugs. It is the plan of every parent to oversee good living among their children

The government has to plan for the legislation against drug abuse because there is no other way of controlling illegal and banned drugs from being used by the people in the public. It is better to ensure that everyone who has a control for the betterment of the society by empowered to carry on the duty. In this case, there is a better way of handling the future concerns of the country using laws (Marteli, 2014). With legislation, a country's leadership can determine what the people should consume or should not. This helps protect citizens against the effect of bad drugs getting into use by those who are vulnerable. As much as drug use or abuse is subject to a personal decision, it is better to have a regular body that oversees what happens in the society.

The arms of government are the specific bodies that take charge of what happens within the country. They are therefore made aware of the harms that can befall them with the use of such drugs. It is also the expectation of the public that the government will always act its role of preventing the usage of bad drugs so as to protect them from the likely harms. In most governments, the priority of securing residents from such harm is dependent on the goodwill of the leadership of the day. It is also dependent on the awareness of the public and their desire to attain some end that satisfies them. In the current way of managing country affairs, it is better to allow the people meet the expectations that they set out. They are the ones who compel the government to move forth with securing their environment through protective legislation.

Drawbacks of Legislation

The Act of deciding the drugs to use and what not to has the prolonged effect of influencing the future of the country in question. It is the expectation of the people in public that with legislation, there will be a secure environment devoid of drugs. However, this is not always the case as the decision of what to legalize and what not to depend largely on the political goodwill of those in leadership. Some of the legislations are made with little regard to what counts in the eventual plan for leadership (Lonhro, 2008). It is better to have plans that surround all manner of control. In respect of what happens in the land where opportunities are available for good governance, it would be better to have people who consider themselves patriotic to pass laws that are binding to all.
