Supplement Application for Pharmacy
Pharmacy Application
Have you considered the ramifications of relocating and/or living in Hilo, HI for the duration of your pharmacy academic career? If so, does the possibility of living in Hawaii appeal to you? If so, why? Do you have any concerns? If so, what are they?
The prospect of completing my degree in pharmacy at the University of Hawaii at Hilo in the College of Pharmacy is very exciting and quite appealing. Although Hawaii is a significant distance from the mainland of the U.S.A., and the costs of travel between Hawaii and the mainland are significant, I have taken the time to review my personal budget and have no concerns about studying such a distance from home. In my previous studies I have often spent long periods of time away from my family, often only visiting once or twice per year over the holidays. My family is very supportive of my choice to study in Hawaii and would in all likelihood spend their holidays visiting with me there, thus saving me the cost of traveling home during my studies. Beyond the practicalities of studying far from home, I am also excited by the prospect of experiencing life within a different culture. I believe that the learning process takes place not only within the walls of the classroom, but also extends beyond into the community and day-to-day experiences that one has while studying.
How do you think that the location of UH Hilo College of Pharmacy will influence your educational experience and do you think that these influences will add value to your pharmacy education?
