I think that it is important for us to contemplate what happens to us when we die even though it creates major conundrums (at least for me). It confuses me and it brings me anxiety. In writing this paper I have been able really think about my own beliefs and I will admit that I have been skeptical. I have felt in the past that religion was created by people in order to keep others behaving rightly -- and maybe so, but what is so wrong about that? I personally like having some kind of structure to my life. I like believing that my grandfather who died ten years ago is in Heaven watching me and that one day I will hopefully join him in Heaven. It is the human need to make sense of our lives. Human are inherently spiritual and this forces us to try and give our lives meaning. We believe that we are special because we were given souls and these souls are alive. We believe that these souls do not just die as our bodies do, but rather, they travel....
They have the power to live eternally -- perhaps not as one whole entity, but perhaps that energy breaks up, divides, and travels back into the universe. I don't have the answers and while it frustrates me, it also leaves me believing that this is part of the beauty of being alive. We don't know what is going to come next, but it makes me want to be the best person I can be.Spirituality The concept of the separation of Church and State has often been thought to be part of the original Founding Father's perception of religion and part of the Constitution. Essentially, this phrase means that there is a Constitutional mandate that there will be no State religion, and that the sociological roles often attributed to religion will, in fact, be manages by the State. This ideal, formulated by Enlightenment thinker John
Augustine, Anselm and Aquinas Question #1 from "Augustine Confessions 2nd edition. Translated by F.J Sheed: Please explain Augustine's theory that evil is the privation of good, and argue for its relevance to at least one other main theme in the confessions. Rather than subscribe to the prevailing theory that evil represented the polar opposite of good -- acting as a necessary counterbalance within the realm of human morality -- Augustine proposes
Nursing Ethics A strong ethical component undergirds the nursing profession. Nurses have an express duty to care, and we are driven by the desire to help others. When completing the "My Nursing Ethic" questionnaire, I was asked to search for the roots of my passion and motivation. I was also asked to consider who or what inspires me, and to whom I am loyal. It is this latter question that becomes
As he himself admits, "I have a very grim perspective. I do feel that it's a grim, painful, nightmarish meaningless existence, and the only way to be happy is if you tell yourself some lies. One must have some delusions to live" ("Cannes 2010: Woody Allen on Death -- 'I'm Strongly Against It'"). What Midnight in Paris is for him (and us), therefore, is a kind of distraction from
Nursing Theory Analysis Theory-based nursing is the phenomenon that has been researched much during the past two decades. Nursing theory has become the foundation for nursing practice with its own knowledge base. The current paper is an analysis of King's theory of goal attainment. King acquired her goal attainment theory model from an interpersonal system and a behavioral science. The nurse and patient communicate to achieve a common goal of patient
