Social Work: A Calling I Admission Essay

There are many people who have no health insurance, and no resources to get the services they need. We have seen an increase in the incidences of violence in our lives, coming close to home in our schools and even our churches. I hope to gain the tools and guidance in conducting interesting and useful research that will lead to progress in making more funding and services available to people.

The internship and research I will do during my graduate studies will give me the experience I need to work independently as a social worker or to work with any number of different types of organizations. It will be the reality that is needed to polish my ideas and goals. It will afford me the opportunity to work with some of the best people in the field, and to benefit from their guidance and training.

I will finance my graduate studies through student loans and grants. There are many opportunities for social workers today, and I confident that my strong work ethic will afford me the opportunity for success, and with that success the financial resources to meet my student loan obligations.
I am fully cognizant of the responsibility I take on in funding my graduate studies with student loans. I already have much information and experience in budgeting for myself, and I realize that I will have to make choices and even sacrifices in my personal life because of the financial responsibility I am taking on with my graduate studies. These are the responsibilities and choices that all individuals must face when preparing their selves for a career. I am fully prepared to take on these responsibilities and to make those hard choices, and to make the commitment to studies and training.
