Jekyll does not reappear until Hyde is hunted down and fatally wounded. Besides helping to set the tone in general for the book, bringing the story of Jekyll and Hyde into his own tale of the horrors that drugs can cause, is perfect. After all, the worst we see about drugs is not necessarily Ronnie's use of them, but using them as a way to get people to debase themselves for the amusement of others. This single fact cannot be stressed hard enough or often enough. Finlay Andrews, and Malcolm Lanyon were so much worse than poor, hooked Ronnie. They did it for money: money and power. They put together the club behind the club for money and power. They already had so much of both they didn't know what to with them and they still wanted more. Add greed to the list of sins...
