Psychological Testing
The role of psychological testing is to provide a tool to further evaluate the mental frame work of an individual. While there are several types of these assessments such as screening, personality and achievement, this essay will examine how intelligence testing can be utilized in the workplace. Intelligence testing attempts to measure the ability of a person's ability to understand the world around them in their environment. These tests use questions that measures the intellectual potential of the person being evaluated and does not reflect a total or comprehensive model of one's totally psyche.
Framingham (2011) suggested that "your IQ -- intellectual quotient -- is a theoretical construct of a measure of general intelligence. It's important to note that IQ tests do not measure actual intelligence -- they measure what we believe might be important components of intelligence. There are two primary measures used to test a person's intellectual functions -- intelligence tests and neuropsychological assessment. " While the IQ test is the most common form of psychological testing, intelligence can also be measured in these other ways as well.
IQ Testing in the Workplace
While many employers take advantage of IQ and other intelligence measuring tests when molding their human resources within the organization, the proper application of this tool is necessary in order to gain the most benefit out of its application. This test is to be used more as guideline or supplemental approach to understanding the members of any workplace organization.
