Primo Maxx is an innovative product mostly used by gulf clubs to increase the quality of their course. It can also be used for various other applications and its main purpose is to stimulate the growth of plants and to make them more beautiful and more resistant. The product is desirable to the public due to its five major attributes. In this particular sense, Primo Maxx:
Enables rich color, lateral stems and root mass development
Inhibits vertical growth
Results in a healthy, more durable blade in your turf
Helps your turf withstand the stresses of the season
Odorless and mixes clear as water"
But despite of the great results promoted by the manufacturer, the product has also been faced with criticism. A primary shortage of Primo Maxx is that when first applying it to a new turf, one has to wait until the grass has begun to grow. Then, since the product should be used before seeding, this means that the current turf will be rather contaminated and the gulf club will have to wait for the second seeding and growing of the grass.
Then, however the product is not difficult to use, if inattentive, the turf can easily be damaged. For instance, too large concentrations of used solutions could lead to the yellowing of the grass. Also, another inconvenience is posed by the fact that the product still has to be used after the summer and warm periods of growth have passed. This not only implies increased costs, but if not respected, can easily damage the next year's turf as the grass will grow slower. "At the end of the season applications should continue until the soil temperature reduces again and grass growth begins to slow naturally. In 2007, October was very warm and, in some cases, applications of Primo Maxx were not continued late enough. On occasion this led to soft growth just before the onset of winter." Finally, to ensure a more beautiful and resistant turf, the process has to be extremely well handled, the dosages have to be exact and the process has to be repeated every twelve days, all to increase the inconvenience and generate more expenditure and demand more time and energy.
The primary consumers of Primo Maxx would be gulf clubs and other similar entities which organize and practice sports that require a turf. Primarily, the manufacturer would address this target market as it is larger and more profitable, but for the future they could also address individual consumers who wish to possess a qualitatively superior lawn.
In choosing the most suitable channels of distribution, the manufacturer would have to analyze the advantages and disadvantage of direct and indirect distribution. Direct distribution means that the product would be sold by the manufacturer directly to the customer through the personal retail facilities of the producer. However this ensures better communications and a superior feedback, it has the disadvantage of increased costs. Indirect distribution means that one or more intermediaries interfere in the process of getting the product from manufacturer to end consumer. This involves reduced costs in comparison to the first method, but also means that the producer becomes estranged from the consumer as communications decrease and in order to find the desired information, the company will have to request the services of a tertiary party.
In familiarizing the audience with Primo Maxx, the manufacturing company should hire a team of marketing specialists and allocate a sufficient budget for the following operations:
the development and maintenance of a website that informs customers and allows online purchases constant communications with the audience and market research to identify the latest trends of the industry, customers' demands and the competition's products and strategies advertisements aired during prime time television and radio programs participations to national and international conventions of the industry as well as public appearances within press conferences and televised talk shows free presentations and demonstrations to potential customers the posting of articles in the specialized press, such as specialized magazines and journals
