Compare the terms premeditated and deliberate found in first degree murder statutes and include in your answer a discussion of the core value of Personal Development: the development of every person's mind, spirit and body for a balanced life.

Premeditated murder is defined as the intentional act of killing a person. This is accomplished through the perpetrator planning on conducting the crime in advance. The motives for this person are to kill the victim and possibly hide their true reason for conducting the crime. This has a similar kind of meaning as deliberate, with the individual thinking about how they will kill someone. It is at this point that the perpetrator will more than likely use a weapon or some other kind of brutal act (to exercise total control over the situation). (Blinn, 1950, pp. 729 -- 735)

This is showing how the development of person's mind will occur based upon their experiences and the ideas they are taught growing up. This will have an impact on how their mind and spirit develop, which will affect their self-esteem. When this happens, the individual will look at their lives and body differently. In most situations, those individuals who are not exposed to extreme amounts of trauma will more than likely have well balanced personalities. This is influencing their thoughts and how they see the world around them. Over the course of time, this will lead to person having more control over their emotions and beliefs. This is when they are able to engage in activities that are constructive to the world around them. (Blinn, 1950, pp. 729 -- 735)

However, someone who commits premeditated or deliberate first degree murder will have challenges with these issues. This is because some kind of traumatic event influenced the person's thought patterns and spirit. At the same time, they began to change how they see themselves and the way they are interacting with each other (which impacted their body and the ability to live a balanced life). The combination of these factors can cause the individual to have some kind of pent up anger that is directed towards someone or a particular group. The fact that they planned and were able to commit the murder is a sign that this person is not well balanced. Instead, they are more than likely someone who is mentally disturbed enough by not thinking about how to conduct these activities on a regular basis. (Blinn, 1950, pp. 729 -- 735)

This is when the person could be considered to be a serial killer or mass murder. The reason why, is because these individuals are planning out in advance how they will conduct first degree murder. The only difference is the number of people that are being killed. As a result, anyone who is involved in these kinds of activities does not have a balanced mind, spirit of physical body. (Blinn, 1950, pp. 729 -- 735)

These elements are showing how all members of the community must help to be able to support effective personal development. This is because the experiences that they are having will have an impact upon: how they see the world around them and the rules that society has in place. When someone is taught from an early age to respect these laws, is the point that they will develop some kind of strong associations in complying with these guidelines. (Blinn, 1950, pp. 729 -- 735)
