In the U.S., using preventive care has helped in the prevention of chronic diseases and detection is possible due to appropriate screenings. At every stage of life, when one uses the right preventive care, then it helps in making Americans stay healthy, lead productive lives, delay onset of disease, and reduce costs of health. Therefore, I agree that preventive services are viable solutions of cutting down on the rising health costs in America. Commercial groups have opted to give their employees a health plan that ensures productivity is maintained by providing them with preventive medical care that creates a healthy workforce (Green, 2012, p. 488). According to PACE team, they have offered and managed to provide preventive care in day health centers, hospitals, homes, and nursing facilities thus help the individuals maintain independence, quality of life, and dignity (Green, 2012, p. 572). Tricare is seen as an emphasize on preventive care and offers immunizations, mammograms, eye exams, hearing screenings, prostate exams, early diagnosis exams, pap smears, and other cancer prevention at no additional charge (Green, 2012, p. 608). Therefore, by offering preventive care in their policies, the insurance companies will be liable to pay hospitals for services not offered, and this costs the company. As such, it is expensive to maintain patients being offered preventive care because it is conducted at any time at no costs. Moreover, the insurance companies offering preventive care in their policies have realized a loophole of where to cater for the extra costs incurred by such care services.
