¶ … SAP site to be very well laid-out. The first thing that happened was a pop-up offering direct sales help. This may have been premature, but I appreciated that if I was looking to make a purchase that I could get help immediately. The product demo videos were easy to find, and I appreciated the multitude of formats for these presentation. I took a look at the Presentation Design Software and the Dashboard software presentations. I found them to be informative, although at times I think if I was working in an IT department I would want to fast forward through some of the more introductory bits.
I believe that managers can learn from these tools some of the value that they bring to an organization. It is important, if the manager is the decision-maker, that he or she is aware of the business value of the software that SAP offers. From an IT perspective, I would argue that the tutorials are not especially illuminating. I would be wondering how to integrate them with my existing systems, but arguably that is something that would be difficult to address in the Internet tutorial format.
I believe that these tools are useful for the end user and for the managers who have only a limited understanding of the value of information technology tools. The tutorials are great to sell managers on the capabilities of modern information management software. The Dashboard is an excellent example of this, because the main value is in what the end user can do with the software.
I believe that these tools would be valuable. My current organization does not make use professional dashboard tools in particular, but rather has a self-designed system that is a little bit weak. Having seen the dashboard in a Fortune 500 company, I am aware of the power that these applications can have in organizing critical data so that decision can be made better and more quickly.
In personal life, I believe that these applications can be quite valuable. They might be more powerful than is necessary, but there is tremendous value in being able to manage information and have it delivered in a format that makes it easy to use. I am aware of the value of quantitative data, so even something Crystal Reports offers me value, if I want to use quantitative reports to improve my performance in any particular metric.
