SAP Tools

In any data mining and evaluation operation, there are a number of tools that can be used. The most important part of the tool set is to be able to have access to current data, and to be able to utilize that data in a manner that is conducive to the business model. In fact, this is even truer now that mobile technology has advanced to the amount of memory it has, enterprise offerings are more robust, and more and more users are developing needs that require tremendous amounts of information. In fact, "increasing possibilities that come from deploying mobile solutions in the workplace are now counter balanced by an exponentially complex ecosystem of options that can make navigating the corporate " landscape challenging (Looking Beyond, 2011). Executives must have solutions that are cost-effective, yet powerful enough to make the time and investment worthwhile.

Certainly, within the telecommunications field, the amount of competition is staggering; almost everyone in the developed world either has, or has access to, a cell phone. In many areas, texting has grown so much that it outshines voice and email. For these services to remain competitive, however, they must have access to usage and psychographic/demographic patterns. Innovative new uses of data mining could easily pull usage data; slice it demographically and psychographically, as well as by region, country, city, etc. Knowing how certain markets trend in usage and needs could become part of innovating new products and services, and thus putting one company on top of another based on information management and targeting certain groups with new services that make more sense based on their behaviors.

For example, CEZ selected SAP based on the software's ability to meet industry -- specific requirements and needs, including support for electricity trading and distribution management. The implementation of the system, in fact, was easy for the Czech organization that distributes power in the European Union. The point of using SAP was to create a single operating entity and integrating business process groups worldwide so that there would be both support for international growth and organizational needs and enhanced customer service. Besides saving a great deal of money, CEZ's IT department benefited greatly. "By deploying the integrated SAP software -- and eliminating approximately 300 individual applications and vast numbers of complex interfaces -- CEZ enabled its IT employees to devote more time and energy to value added tasks" (CEZ -- Driving Synergies, 2010).
