Problems at Roanoke and Possible solutions
Over the past few weeks, Phoenix Advertising has been receiving complaint from clients about quality of work at our Virginia Branch, Roanoke. As we know, Roanoke is one of the most important units of the organization and has been serving some of our most valuable clients. We have never had complaints about quality of work produced at Roanoke but for the past few weeks, they have been coming in regularly. This was a serious cause of concern and an investigation ensued. The purpose of this investigation was to discover the root cause of the problems at Roanoke. Several key employees from creative and accounts department were interviewed, some clients were also interviewed and a small survey was conducted. The results of this investigation are presented in this report.
The investigation revealed that three major problems were affecting quality of work at Roanoke. For one, creative department had no real say in the final production of various projects on which they have worked hard. Second, accounts department is consistently meddling in the affairs of the creative department and art directors do not believe in collaborating with the creative staff. Thirdly, new accounts are being accepted without consultation with the employees and without taking existing workload into consideration. These problems are seriously affecting quality of work as employee morale and productivity have decreased considerably. Several key employees are threatening to quit.
After careful study of the problems, we have come up with some recommendations that aim to offer a solution to these problems at Roanoke. For one, it is extremely important that accounts department doesn't interfere with the work done by the creative department. It is also important that art directors collaborate with creative staff on regular basis and consult with them about changes and alterations. Secondly, we need to offer more incentives to the creative staff in order to appreciate the extra work they are doing in the wake of increased workload. This appreciation can help in improving their productivity and increase their morale. It is also recommended that at least three new people are hired in the creative department: two graphic designers and one copywriter. This will allow creative department to work more effectively on new projects. Last but not the least, it is critical to involve the clients in the creative process. Once the first stage of new projects has been completed, it is important that clients are informed of what the creative department is working on. Their views on final product must also be heard carefully and taken into consideration when alterations are made.
