Therefore, it is exceedingly important to have a comparison of these operating systems in order to know their advantages and disadvantages. Windows is the first operating system in this regard. Windows is the pride of the Microsoft Corporation so far and no other product can compare with it definitely. The usage rate of Windows is 80-90% of all the computers which are generally called desktop computers. There is a bigger percentage of computer users who are not very computer savvy and therefore, prefer to use Windows as an operating system. Microsoft Windows is the most user-friendly operating system that has been developed so far. This is the reason why more or less everyone who owns a computer runs it on Microsoft Windows. In addition to that huge support for hardware, there is an added advantage of using Windows as an operating system. Windows makes large number of software for catering the hardware. The disadvantage is that it is a closed source operating system. Microsoft Windows is at the top of the operating systems list which works as a headache as well. This is due to the existence of viruses, malware and spyware etc. Every user of the Microsoft Windows needs to install security software and maintenance programs. Even after doing all that hassle, there can be no guarantee that the system is 100% secure and covered. Overall, the operating system is compatible to run games and most programs available for an average user (Ukshini).
Reasons for considering Mac OS X over Microsoft Windows are few but solid. Firstly, Mac OS X is user friendly and very easier to use.
