City of Boston: Olympic Venue Bid Process
The City of Boston, Massachusetts stands as one of America's iconic cities. Its history goes back to the American Revolution and the city continues to represent America's prosperity and wealth. Boston is an excellent site for the 2020 Olympic Games. The IOC has a specific life cycle of the bid process (Olympic.org, 2012a) . The bid process begins many years prior to the scheduled Olympic Games (Olympic.org. (2012d).This proposal will represent the first stage of the bid process (IOC, 2012 Games Lifecycle).
The bid and election process takes many years. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has a subcommittee that is responsible for elections of the host city (Olympic.org, 2012b). The committee makes a careful evaluation of the cities that have submitted a bid. All must meet certain criteria. An impact study must be conducted to determine how hosting the games would affect the citizens of the city (DBSA.org, 2011). After these considerations, the committee casts votes that will decide the venue of future Olympic Games (Olympic.org, 2012c). The following will outline the elements necessary for proposal to submit a bid for Boston to serve as the venue for the 2020 Olympic Games. The following sections will be necessary in order to address the issues included in the upcoming bid proposal.
Legal Aspects
Hosting the 2020 Olympic Games has many legal ramifications. The chosen venue will have to comply with local regulations, state regulations, and Federal regulations of the United States. However, because the event is an international event, it will also have to comply with international rules and the laws governing the OlympicGames.
