The Book of Genesis shows humanity as having a turbulent relationship with God, as in spite of the fact that He attempts to provide humans with all the resources required for them to thrive, most people fail to behave ethically. While most people chose to direct their talent at improving their own lives, they should actually be concerned about assisting God any way that they can, as this is the actual purpose of their power.
God's intention in having humans resemble Him was most probably in attempt to have people capable of performing moral acts. The ability to think is likely to be a result of God's interest in making people in his "likeness" and the fact that individuals reason and have the capability to make ethical decisions is the result of God's efforts.
