¶ … achievement of the course outcomes in this course have prepared you to meet the MSN program outcome #4, the MSN Essential IV, and the Nurse Practitioner Core Competencies # 7.
The achievement of course outcomes has prepared me to meet the fourth MSN program outcome: which is to evaluate the design, implementation, and outcomes of strategies developed to meet healthcare needs. Completing the course has also promoted the MSN Essential IV, and the Nurse Practitioner Core Competencies # 7. MSN Essential IV is "translating and integrating scholarship into practice," which is a core component of professional nursing. Through the course, we recognize the value of evidence-based practice as we integrate research outcomes within the practice setting. We also resolve practice problems, work as a change agent, and disseminate results.
Program Outcome #4: Evaluate the design, implementation, and outcomes of strategies developed to meet healthcare needs (MSN Essentials)
Evaluating the design, implementation, and outcomes of strategies that have been developed to meet healthcare needs is an essential of professional nursing. As Drenkard (2012) points out, "Having a strategy for the implementation of evidence-based practice and the creation of a research agenda for nursing is critical," (p. 242). These strategies must be continually evaluated by nurse leaders and administrators, who work within the ethical guidelines of their organization. Moreover, nurse leaders...
Nursing Informatics NEW COMPETENCIES Nursing informatics or NI is a field specialty that blends and integrates the nursing, computer and information sciences in managing and transferring information and insights in nursing (Anderson, 2008; Coleman et al., 2010). It is aimed at assisting in the decision-making function of patients, nurses and other participants in patient care through information structures, processes and technology. Case Scenario: Nursing EthicsHealthcare providers are in a profound position of trust in regards to the patients in their charge. In the case scenario, an ADN nurse and a transport tech were not sufficiently watchful of an elderly patient due to complacency and the fact that they were having a personal conversation. Although a nurse with an associates degree (ADN) and a bachelors-level prepared nurse would have different levels of
Leadership Can the definition of "leadership" be applied to the concept of "management"? Leadership is defined as a process whereby an individual has influence over others in terms of achieving a predetermined, common goal. This paper takes the position that leadership should be part of what a manager / management does in a workplace environment; leadership is not limited to one category of employees, whether it be executives at the top
Nursing: Nurse Practitioner The advanced practice nurse is a graduate with a master's or doctorate degree in nursing, certified to guide others in using the nursing process to maximize the community's health outcomes (Smith & Rose, 2011). These nurses are prepared to pursue either direct practice roles, where they interact directly with families and patients to improve their well-being through disease management, or indirect practice roles, where they take a leadership
Leadership for Advanced Practice Nursing 1 Staffing is not the main issue in elevating or containing costs: the main issue is retention. High turnover rates in nursing can drive costs up, but proper staffing with an appropriate ratio of nurses to patients can actually reduce costs over the long-term so long as turnover is not an issue. The reason is that appropriate staffing leads to improvements in quality care delivery (Martin, 2015).
competencies of the direct care provider and the indirect care provider are similar in many ways because both are based on the idea that quality care is the ultimate goal for any stakeholder in healthcare. The competencies are also different in some ways because direct and indirect care providers must focus on roles that are oriented towards using different skills from one another. This paper will compare and contrast
