Part 3:
Bandura's social cognitive learning theory helps provide a psychological basis for learning and teaching. His theory emphasizes the importance of interaction between individuals in meaningful relationships as essential to the learning process. The cognitive interactinoist view proposed by Bandura confirms that individuals are 'purposive beings who exercise situational choice" (Shermis & Bigge, 155). This means that people do the best they can in any given situation to promote the best self and may use life experiences to choose the outcome in a complex decision making process. Interaction based on this theory is purposive, meaning that individuals are not passive learners. People learn based on interactionist between a persons environment and their experiences which "give meaning to that environment" so they can decide how best to make decisions that will ultimately be advantageous to them (Shermis & Bigge, 155). Through interactions and daily events learners may gain new insights that result in decision-making changes. People's behaviors are a function in part of the environment and those with which they interact according to Bandura. How do these relate to Benner's levels of nurse functioning? The most relevant concepts of Benner's theory suggest that learning is gained depending on the experience levels in part of a nurse. Nurses in a novice state for example tend to view situations...
Jean Watson and in reality "belonging becomes an ethic in itself and guides how we sustain our being in the world." Dr. Watson emphasizes the fact that the practices of nursing have experienced evolution and this has allowed certain distortions in the nursing practices. Dr. Watson brings to attention 'Palmer's epistemology as ethics' yet the epistemology, in the view of Palmer to be 'informed by cosmology' has great power
Nursing Informatics Pioneers According to the American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA), nursing informatics has been classified as the "science and practice (that) integrates nursing, its information and knowledge, with management of information and communication technologies to promote the health of people, families, and communities worldwide" (2013), and this emerging field has the potential to dramatically improve the delivery of healthcare services across the board. Just as the intrepid Florence Nightingale paved
Theory Critique of Jean Watson Introduction and Historical Context Jean Watson developed the theory of transpersonal caring or the theory of human caring in the year 1979. The theory points at the humanistic characteristics of nursing in relation to the scientific knowledge in the world. Watson developed this theory with the aim of communicating meaning, and making nursing a unique health profession. We consider caring as the core responsibility to nursing; therefore,
Nursing Professional Boundaries There are boundary issues in every aspect of nursing practice. Some of the issues range from stopping to purchase some groceries for a home-bound client, accepting gifts from clients, having friendship with clients and engaging in sexual relationships with clients. While there is substantial gray area compared to black and white in the study of professional boundaries, nurses can make appropriate decisions if they have the relevant information
Nursing Theory "Discuss several aspects of professional communication as it relates to the use of language in terms of form (e.g., clarity, accuracy) and content (culture and/or ethics)." (Question, 2014, p1). Communication is the reciprocal process where messages are received and sent between two or more individuals. Communication involves exchange of ideas, or opinion, which could be in form oral or written form. On the other hand, communication involves a series of
What is the most valuable lesson you've learned as a nurse that you've tried to impart to your students? Get to know your patients. You can make a valuable human connection with any of your patients, if you just put in the attempt. Their care will be so much more effective and your time at work will be all the more richer. How do you build awareness of the personal attributes of
