Cellulase helps to digest cellulose, which is the main component of fibrous diets. In patients with yeast overgrowth (Candida symptoms) the use of cellulase enzyme can be very effective. Yeast cell membrane contains a chemical known as chitin, which is very similar in structure to cellulose. Thus the use of cellulase enzyme helps breakdown this structure and effectively control yeast growth. Most enzyme supplements include plant derived Cellulase. The cellulase enzyme-based treatment approach to controlling intestinal yeast infections is relatively new but is considered very effective since yeast cannot develop resistance, as they cannot modify their cell wall. Thus plant derived cellulase enzyme supplementation is useful for digestive purposes as well as in the treatment of intestinal yeast infections. [EIR] Lactase is another important enzyme that could be derived from plants. Naturally occurring in the small intestine of animals this enzyme is essential for the proper breakdown of lactose into glucose and galactose. However, millions of Americans have lactase deficiency. [Nemours Foundation] for these people with lactose intolerance, supplementation with lactose enzyme would help in the digestion of milk and milk products.

Conclusion

Plants are natural sources of enzymes. Plant derived Enzymes are not only useful as digestive agents but are also effective in improving intestinal probiotics, detoxifying and cleansing the colon, and in improving the overall nutrition absorption. Plant-based enzymes promote a more...

Since plant derived enzymes operate on a much wider range of pH and temperature compared to animal derived enzymes they are more effective therapeutically. Enzyme deficiency is the root cause of many health problems such as digestive disorders, ulcers, fungal infections etc. And addressing the deficiency would therefore resolve multiple health problems. Plant enzymes, as supplemental therapy, or as a treatment for specific infections (candidiasis), have important applications in the management of a wide variety of digestive and metabolic disorders and in improving the overall health of a person.

Enzymes 1. How does temperature affect enzyme function? Every enzyme demonstrates maximum activity at a particular temperature known as its optimum temperature. Generally, all enzymes are inactivated at temperatures below 10°C and get denatured (lose its three-dimensional protein nature) above its optimum temperature (Seager & Slabaugh 2010). Experiments conclude that enzyme activity increases by almost ten percent coupled to each degree rise in temperature until it reaches its optimum state and declines beyond

The RHDl gene product appears to be necessary for proper initiation of root hairs, whereas the RHDS, RHD3, and RHD4 gene products are required for normal hair elongation. These results demonstrate that root hair development in Arabidopsis is amenable to genetic dissection and should prove to be a useful model system to study the molecular mechanisms governing cell differentiation in plants.(Schiefelbein & Somerville, 1990, p.235) The genetic analysis of root

DNA The Structure and Nature of DNA DNA, or deoxyribonucleic acid, is the basic system upon which life on Earth is constructed. In a very real sense, DNA is a kind of program for life that cells use to replicate themselves and transmit information from generation to generation. Over eons, as life changes and adapts to new environmental conditions, that information is stored in the genetic code of all life on the

Words: 916 Length: 3 Document Type: Essay

Fruit Ripening Fruit is an integral part of certain types of plants' ability to reproduce by providing a means to disperse it's seeds. The process of seed dispersal involves the activity of animals; which digest the fruit and disperse the seeds in its feces. But the fruit must appear and taste agreeable to the various animals which the plant depends upon to eat the fruit and disperse the seeds. In order

If the temperature is taken miles away, or if the insect that was found and studied was not exactly the same as one that had been studied before, only similar perhaps, the defense attorney will also often argue that the entomologist's testimony is only guesswork, and therefore that it is not valid and should not be admitted as evidence (Sachs, 1998). Judges have taken different approaches about whether to allow
