Resume
I have two significant experiences in a supportive position that have direct relevance to the executive assistant position for which I am currently applying. First, I was office administrator for the entire San Francisco office for Kim Coates. With little to no supervision, I performed tasks ranging from spreadsheet creation and management to the preparation of budgets. I would answer attorney and staff inquiries, handle office space expansions, and delegate tasks to office personnel. In Kim Coate's absence, I managed to keep the office organized and running effectively according to the mission and goals of the organization.
Currently, I work for a nationally-recognized law firm in a position that directly supports the Office Administrator and two senior partners, one of which serves via appointment by Mayor Gavin Newsom. One of the partners is also a member of the Board of Directors of the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency, which is the City agency that oversees public transportation, traffic and parking in San Francisco. The firm partner received this appointment after serving as Taxicab Commissioner, so I am now familiar with various issues related to city transportation authority. With a great degree of autonomy, I have been able to make decisions related to the organization of materials and preparation of critical communications. This same law firm partner also previously served via appointment by former Mayor Willie Brown as the Chair of the San Francisco Human Rights Commission. This is the body charged with overseeing and enforcing the City's anti-discrimination laws and policies, as well as its preferential contracting programs. Working with the law firm has been instrumental in helping me think critically about crucial issues affecting the community. One of my express duties is communications coordination. I manage an Emergency Response Team, help with human resources development such as by providing interviews to qualified office assistant applicants, and ensure that no appointments are missed. Although I do have a great deal of independence, I view my role in the organization as part of a team dedicated to helping the firm reach its goals.
2. As stated in the answer to question one, I work with public officials on a daily basis and have been for years. I have been involved with coordinating public events such as the swearing-in ceremony for a former Partner of MTO, who is now the appointed Ambassador of Australia. When he was still Senator, President Obama visited our office of MTO and passed out autograph copies of his book. One of the partners in our law firm is Kristin Myles, who was appointed by the Supreme Court of the United States in 2008 to serve as a Special Master in an original case, South Carolina v. North Carolina, Original No. 138.
