Once this takes place, you have a situation that is similar to the time frame before World War I. Where, all of the different world powers assumed that they understood the rationale and actions of each other. At which point, a small regional conflict in Serbia would escalate in a major conflict that would engulf all of the major world powers. (Steward 2003, pp. 6 -- 20) This is significant, because it shows that when you have several major military powers around the globe, a balancing act must take place, as the chances for conflict have increased dramatically. Given the overall destructive nature of nuclear weapons, it is safe to assume that those nations that posses these devices, will more than likely view themselves in this light. The ability that I have to analyze these kinds of situations, could be influential, in helping to bring a voice of reason to a world that is becoming more polarized. This could help to provide a more overall in depth understanding of the problem and what...

In many ways, one could argue that this is the key to understanding history and international relations. The big challenge going forward is how the public and government officials can be reminded of these mistakes that were made. I believe that with my ability to understand the situation and explain the complexity of it to someone in layman's terms will help me to achieve this objective. As everyone can be able to see the issue from a number of different viewpoints, in order to have a greater understanding of the overall challenges that they are facing. Once this occurs, is when they can see beyond the politics and the heated emotions that many contemporaries will have. At which point, they can begin to have an understanding of the true scope of the problem and possible ways that the various challenges can be mitigated.
