Leadership Development
From your personal experience, give an example of each technique and the impact it had on you.
A metaphor had an impact on me, by showing how there were specific ideas which could be used to motivate someone to do more. At the same time, it is utilized as way of warning about the dangers of becoming involved in specific activities. In my personal experiences, these ideas reshaped how I looked at the world around me and my interpretations of different events. Over the course of time, this developed my attitudes and beliefs by creating foundation of comprehending numerous concepts. (Wasonga, 2006) (Robbins, 1991)
For example, diverse metaphors taught me morals and behaviors that should be avoided. These areas allowed me to see a situation more clearly by having a basic saying which defined who I was. It is at this point, when these beliefs reshaped my personality. (Wasonga, 2006) (Robbins, 1991)
In the case of shared personal knowledge, I was able to use the experiences and events to restructure my thoughts about the world around me. These insights enabled me to more effectively work with different people and understand the challenges that were taking place. This is when the lessons I learned could help them to understand and deal with these problems. These ideas made me wiser and enabled me to become a close confidant they could trust in the process. (Wasonga, 2006) (Robbins, 1991)
For instance, in one situation my personal knowledge helped a friend of mine to make the right decisions and avoid hanging out with the wrong crowd. This resulted in me sharing what I learned with them, in order for the person to see the long-term consequences they will have on their lives. It is at this point, when these views enabled them to think clearly and make better choices based upon my insights. (Wasonga, 2006) (Robbins, 1991)
A time when I was placed in an ambiguous situation, occurred when I was out of town and become lost. In this situation, I was in a new environment and did not know my way around. This made it difficult for me to understand what was happening and to avoid the common challenges inside this atmosphere. To address these issues, required me having the ability to learn quickly and adapt with the challenges I was facing. (Wasonga, 2006) (Robbins, 1991)
For instance, in one particular instance I found myself in a bad neighborhood and did not know where I was. To avoid any problems, I had to set my sense of confusion aside and pay careful attention to the environment. This allowed me to find my way out and go to a location where I could obtain proper support. (Wasonga, 2006) (Robbins, 1991)
