Mission Statements And Achievement Professional Writing

Goals, Mission, and Vision Goals, vision and mission constitute important elements of an organization's strategy. Nonetheless, there is often confusion in differentiating the three elements. Vision defines the desired future state an organization wants to achieve (Daye & van Auken, 2010). In the case of Madison Academy, for instance, the institution aspires to be the best high school in the U.S. in teaching science, mathematics and technology. Mission defines the primary reason for which an organization exists (Daye & van Auken, 2010). For Madison Academy, the mission is to offer a challenging learning environment focused on science, mathematics and technology. A goal defines the organization's long-term plan or aim (Hofstrand, 2016). By offering a curriculum focused on science, mathematics and technology, the academy aims to equip learners with critical thinking, problem solving, leadership and interpersonal skills; encourage a culture innovation; and foster collaborative learning.

Prior to coming up with a plan of action, an organization must have an understanding of where it wants to go and how to get there. Without the understanding, implementing the plan of action may prove to be difficult or ineffective. In addition, the notions of vision, mission and goals are interrelated to the extent that the achievement of one is important for the achievement of the others. For instance, without achieving its mission and goals, an organization may not achieve its vision.
The process of developing and implementing goals and the corresponding mission and vision statements is often a challenging task. First and foremost, the three elements must be properly aligned with one another (Daye & van Auken, 2010). Inconsistency may often present the danger of poor implementation. Second, the three elements must clearly and specifically communicate the purpose of the organization, what it stands for, its aspirations, and what it intends to do to achieve those aspirations. It is not uncommon to come across goal definitions as well as vision and mission statements that do not plainly identify what the organization does or where it intends to go. Concise and specific articulation of goals, mission and vision is important for effective implementation of the
