Conclusion
It is clear that negotiations are vital for the success of any merger. Without negotiations there would be no mergers, and instead it would all be a hostile takeover. Negotiating on the modalities of forming a new entity allows both parties to reach a mutual agreement, which allows them to join their resources. Using the U.S. Airways and American Airlines merger, one can see that U.S. Airways initiated negotiations with the various stakeholders in order to ensure that the merger becomes a success. Had the airline ignored the stakeholders the merger talks would not have borne any fruits. U.S. Airways has provided the creditors with an avenue for them to recoup their investments, which has been a key factor towards the success of this merger. As the merger talks are still ongoing, there are other aspects that will come to light, and once this are sorted out the merger will surely be a success.
