The emergency service oversight areas of training and development, leadership and measuring results, all must resonate with these core values if employees and associates are to see value in their contributions. In emergency oversight, employees must see value in their contribution and take a very high level of task ownership in their jobs. They must be led to have an extremely high level of accountability and pride in performance. Only by combining the aspects of transformational leadership can the foundation be created to provide these employees with the opportunity to attain their own personal goals while delivering exceptional service to others. As the emergency service aspects of performance can be unpredictable and chaotic, leading to employees not feeling in control and eventual burn-out, it is critical for transformational leaders to set a foundation of autonomy as well. Using transformational leadership to provide these foundational elements in an emergency oversight role will also drastically reduce turnover, mistakes and sick-days. The job becomes a mission, their responsibilities the vision and their contributions greatly matter. That is transformational leadership.
