Largest Challenges Of Research And The Gathering Essay

¶ … largest challenges of research and the gathering techniques associated with strong academic practices lies in the human element of any experiment. Subjective interpretation of qualitative data is necessary to develop many, if not all, hypotheses into actual fact and practical application. The purpose of this writing is to explain the necessary methods to successfully incorporate qualitative data into a specific research plan. I will discuss how the research topic of human trafficking can use these methods to help in the planning process and ultimately present a worthwhile presentation of scientific exploration. The type of data used in a topic such as human trafficking would be a combination of information from several different types of sources. Legal and criminal statistics would be obviously incorporated into such a study, but identifying the bias in these numbers must include additional forms of data. Most important in this gathering phase information is to...

This preventative step helps eliminate the subjective interpretation of the topic and helps manage the human element to a reasonable manner.
Incorporating other forms of data such as observation of trafficking victims is another considerable approach to gaining an understanding to this topic. Scaling and coding of questionnaires and survey's should follow mathematical models that have proven their worth. Utilizing a grounded theory where researchers model qualitative data by unveiling hidden meanings in the data would most likely be a wise philosophy to adopt in such a study. This approach must ultimately mix compelling evidence with emerging ideas and practices that have not yet been fully synthesized with institutional and conventional practices due to the slow moving processes often associated with academic bureaucracy.

Because this population is considered vulnerable and a protected class, all the rules pertaining to informed consent will be of the utmost importance, as well as ensuring that this sample understands the questions. Darbyshire, MacDougall, and Schiller (2005) indicated that children's voices should be heard through research. Recognizing that the age range for this group is between 15 and 18, I would still be very careful when conducting research, by ensuring that informed consent was provided by the caregivers of the children.

The questions would be pilot testing and refined (Turner, 2010). These questions would be placed in an interview guide, however, I would utilized the open conversational interview if needed to draw out additional information (Turner, 2010). I also want to make it clear, that I would use multiple methods
