Name a company that has been a success in E-Commerce. Why is it a success?

One company that has been a success in E-Commerce is that of EBay. EBay's success is due to its capability to convert a lot of disjointed, principally local markets into worldwide ones at a comparatively low cost to its users. People have always had a want and a curiosity in buying and selling used, excess, and collectible things. Conventionally, they have done so by way of garage sales, classified ads in local newspapers, and flea markets. Nevertheless, the amount of people accessible to complete a transaction was inadequate for the reason that an in person meeting was characteristically necessary (Maney, 2003).

Name a company that has been a failure. Why?

Egghead.com had to file for bankruptcy in 2001 and sell its possessions to retail chain Fry's Electronics. Egghead did not release their website until early 2000 when the dot.com boom had already been in full swing for some time. The only thing that their website presented at the time was high speed internet access. Guests to the website got very aggravated for the reason that Egghead didn't present any of their products online nor could an existing consumer ask about whether a certain product was obtainable or not. Consumers became very aggravated; sales were very small because of their absence of merchandise offering (Wolverton, 2001).

3. What did you come across in assignment one that surprised you?

I thought it was surprising how differently that each website is set up and how that set up makes a difference in how a person perceives their shopping experience.

4. Anything else you would like to share with us from your assignment one?

Internet shopping has its advantages like not having to stand in line, but has its disadvantages too when it comes to not being able to truly interact with the product before buying it.
