Family Nursing Practitioner Application Justification
The quest to become a nurse, that was finally realized when I became a registered nurse, was prompted by the need to work among the very underprivileged of the community in the poorest areas and vulnerable conditions. Having been a RN, there are vast experiences that I have undergone, not only in the technical aspect of learning the prognosis and prescription but also further experiencing first hand the social needs of nursing and the existing gaps at the homestead levels. Combining the expertise and the human face to nosing will enable me to positively contribute in to improvement of the health status of both the American citizens who are extremely poor and the foreign missions that will be the next quest, particularly to Africa or Asia. This way the training I have undergone will not be confined to the codified nursing tenets and bedside care only but have practical impact one the world in its small way.
To pursue Family Nursing Practitioner (FNP) is more of a passion and calling to me than just a profession that people register for. I have the zeal to sharpen my knowledge and focus more to the underprivileged families across the globe. Consequently, I will have to sacrifice a lot of social activities that can wait for the duration I will be in for training. It may cross to the work that I am currently engaged in since I will have to slot in my time such that I get enough time to work and still not tamper with the scheduled class hours. Only the very essential obligations will be left on my program for consideration and only on extremely unavoidable conditions so as to create as much time as possible for my FNP program.
In the current century, shortage of nurses is the biggest challenge to health institutions in general, as a matter of fact it can be termed as a global issue. It is approximated that in 2006, there was a shortage of 118,000 nurses and a projection of roughly one million shortage of nurses to be experienced in 2020 (Nevidjon, B., (2012). This shortage can only be felt when there exists an imbalance between the available nursing skills and the actual number of nurses utilizing their skills, this is experienced bearing that not all the nurses available actually take up nursing jobs. Trained nurses often decline job offers due to issues like payment and benefits hence they opt for employment not related to nursing or even remain with no employment at all. This shortage has a big impact on the health status of patients as well as the quality of heath care services that are provided. Nurses have a central role in the health care system as they are termed as being in the frontline of any health care system and this includes expounding on the roles and the significance of nursing to other people who may have misconceptions abut the profession that leads to the low enrolment for this course, this way they will act the advocate role of an advance trained nurse.
