Disciplinary hearings of staff fall within the judicial function of the administration. But there are also judicial concerns that relate to dealing with the larger world of healthcare policy as a whole. For example, if the hospital is involved in legal disputes, in-house counsel must determine whether settlement, dispute resolution, or going to trial is warranted. Hospital bylaws and guidelines must be in keeping with the laws of the land in terms of honoring insurance, dispensing care, and the types of procedures staff may and must perform.
