Informative Speech Outline: Golf
Since its invention the game of golf has been played for fun and relaxation: a means to spend time outdoors, breathe fresh air, and hone one's skills at the same time.
Scotland is credited with being golf's country of origin but the sport has origins deep in European history (Kelley).
The primary reason for golf's continuing and burgeoning popularity is its positive effect on human beings: golf is both fun and relaxing, encouraging social interactions and improving overall health and well-being.
Golf can be played as informally or as formally as possible, making it a fun and relaxing endeavor.
Since players like Tiger Woods popularized the sport, golf has changed from being a game played only by country club members to one that anyone can enjoy.
A. Golf has become more affordable due to the proliferation of courses and greater competition between them as well as a growing number of public courses.
B. Golf has become a way for people from all walks of life to relax, discuss business, or simply pass the time on a nice day.
III. Golf is big money but its revenue-driven aspects do not detract from the fundamental fact that golf is one of the most fun and relaxing sports.
A. Although highly competitive, golf does not need to be played competitively and unlike most sports can be played solo.
B. Golf offers a happy medium between working hard at honing one's skills at the sport and being totally relaxed, at ease, and having fun.
C. Golf encourages players to be outside breathing fresh air and walking around rather than sitting cooped up inside supporting a sedentary lifestyle.
D. Golf is a sport anyone can learn and can become a powerful bonding activity for families, friends, and business partners.
