Girl Scouts and the Eight Dimensions of Quality

Scout movements were first organized exclusively for boys, but eventually a scout movement for girls was initiated as well. In their beginnings, the Girl Scouts divided the members based on race, religion and other social criteria. Today however, all participants are treated equally and work together, the organization being present in about 150 countries. The primary aim of the Girl Scouts programs is to assist the youth in their social and intellectual developments, to aid them integrate within the society and become worthy individuals. The girls get involved in all sort of social activities, including camps, trips, fund raising or green planet activities with the purpose of aiding the communities. In all, Girl Scouts leads to the formation of strong and independent women which will make a difference in the world.

A rather common feature of youth organizations is their relationship and accordance with basic principles that guide the world. In this order of ideas, one could analyze the connection between Girl Scouts and the eight dimensions of quality: performance, features, reliability, conformance, durability, serviceability, aesthetics and perceived quality.

1. Performance

Achieving performance is the force that drives the girl scouts movement. While aiding the young girls to intellectually and socially develop, Girl Scouts encourages them to overcome their limitations and attain high performances. Proof of the organization's dedication stands the large number of actual and former members who have become important figures of society and have played significant roles in the economic, politic, legal, medical or educational sectors.

2. Features

The Girl Scouts feature several programs dedicated to integrate young girls into the community, programs which come to the benefit of both girls and communities. Some of these activities include cleaning the planet, raising funds for charitable events, supporting the military troops, taking trips into the wild or caring for babies and young children. These activities are a clear benefit to the communities but they also assist the girls in becoming more independent and responsible.

Special features include programs designed for young girls facing several problems. For instance, girls orphan of mother, or whose mothers are imprisoned can find support at the organization. Special programs also include the aiding of imprisoned girls or teenage mothers.

3. Reliability

When parents enrol their daughters into the Girl Scouts programs they expect the best results. And they generally see these results due to the organization's and its members' commitment and dedication. However not all outcomes have been successful, and the organization is not almighty. Due to several personal issues, such as failure to adjust, difficulties of communication or traumatic past experiences, some girls fail to completely integrate and become members. Even so, the rate of such situations is rather limited and parents fully trust the organization's capabilities and consider it a highly reliable institution that is most likely to retrieve the desired results.

4. Conformance

Girl Scouts operates in full accordance with all pre-established national, international and organizational standards. They respect and protect all human and children's rights. The organization is committed to respecting all regulations and is even working on developing new ones that offer better protection for children and girls across the globe.

5. Durability

Most programs initiated by Girl Scouts have life time durability. This length can easily be explained by the fact that these programs are so created as to leave an eternal mark. They are useful lessons for life and they aid to the building and formation of the girls' characters. Girls who learn to be independent and kind to those in need are prone to manifest such behaviour throughout the rest of their lives.

6. Serviceability

Girl Scouts is not a directly serviceable program. It is neither ruthless nor useless; it is simply there to aid the girls learn how to 'serve' themselves and the others. And serve in the meaning of aid. The procedures implemented are friendly, but they represent lessons for life. The girls are thought how to be courteous and respectful to others but also how to stand up for themselves when necessary.
