The Catholic Church had a particularly influential character during the sixteenth century and this was perfectly reflected by the fact that many individuals across Europe subjected to it and felt that it was essential for them to act in accordance with its legislations. Even with this, a great deal of people considered that the institution had an abusive nature and that particular values that it promoted were immoral. Martin Luther was one of the individuals in Germany who felt that people needed to open their eyes concerning the morally wrong acts committed by the Catholic Church. The German reformation is one of the most important events in the country's religious history.

Martin Luther was initially a passionate Catholic and was determined to do everything in his power with the purpose of having others acknowledge the importance of Catholicism in general. He even went as far as to pay indulgences in an attempt to be absolved for his sins, as the church had influenced him to believe...

However, he gradually realized that it was wrong for the Church to ask finances with the purpose of absolving individuals of their sins and that something needed to be done in order to have the masses gain a better understanding of how the world works and of the fact that sins have nothing to do with finances.
Luther was practically responsible for triggering the Reformation movement in Germany and his 95 Theses played an essential role in creating a rupture between the Catholic Church and Christians across his home country. Not only was Luther frustrated because of his failure to comprehend the fact that the indulgences were virtually wrong, as he was also determined to have Germans acknowledge the injustices performed by the Catholic Church before they reached his position. As a consequence, he started a mass program meant to inform Germans concerning the attitudes that they needed to employ with regard to the Church. His actions led to one of the most significant conflicts experienced by the Catholic Church and made it possible for society to understand that individuals were no longer willing to accept being manipulated by Catholicism.
