Seniors can relax in quiet adult-oriented areas like the kitchen/reading rooms and children can frolic in the various play centers located throughout. Compared to most recreational centers, this serves a broader population with diverse interests, needs, and abilities. The facility has no major downsides. Its sheer size can be a bit overwhelming initially for new visitors, and begs the question of whether it can become a sustainable community center. However, the facility is well-designed and planned so that persons interested in one particular activity do not have to span the entire complex. And the center does participate in waste recycling. Analysis of Focus Area: The Henderson Multigenerational Center mirrors the overall Henderson focus area for several reasons. First, the facility is, like Henderson itself, relatively new. The design and scope of the Multigenerational Center reflects the burgeoning Henderson community. Second, the Henderson community is family-oriented and diverse. Persons from all age groups live in Henderson and can now play and relax at the community center. Third, Henderson's landscape supports the Multigenerational Center, which affords visitors views of the city. Although the facility cannot be said to blend in seamlessly with the environment, it does so as best as possible in light of its size.
