The modifications in the economic, educational, and social systems have influenced the behavior and relationships between people and their employers. This refers to have people organize their lives and workplace.

Since 1975, the world's economy has significantly developed. This means that the GDP in most countries has increased, allowing them to invest in economic, technological, infrastructure developments. This determined their economies to continue their developments, with important effects on individual level. In other words, this economic development determined an increase in individuals' purchasing power. The fact that they could purchase more, determined them to spend more. The demand for most products and services has significantly increased. The capitalist era became a consumerist one.

The focus on consumption also determined companies to expand their business. These economic conditions have determined people to focus on their freedom. This refers to their level of dependence on their employers. The fact that people spent more money increased their dependence on their jobs, their salaries, and their employers. Companies that employ these people are aware of their influence on their employees. This creates a distorted relationship between companies and employees. In other words, companies want to exploit this influence by forcing employees to work more, with less money, and not in the best working conditions. Employees are not satisfied with this behavior and try to change it.

Therefore, this creates the need to work for themselves, and not for some company. They want to become their own employers. They think they this can help them improve their situation. People are also attracted by becoming their own employers because they want to make more money, they want to earn more. They get into contact with messages that motivate them to be richer, allowing them to buy more.

The Internet is full of websites that recommend strategies they can use in order to earn more money and to be happier by working for themselves. In other words, they are induced the idea that people must work for themselves in order to be happy. This means that they are not happy if they work for someone else. This idea is repeated by numerous websites, motivational speakers, self-help books, and others. By repeating something often enough, people start thinking it must be true. This idea combined with people's unsatisfactory working conditions determines them to think that it is better to become your own boss.

This does not necessarily make it true. In my opinion, most people that think that it is better to be your own boss do not take into considerations the implications of such a situation. It is possible that they do not understand the difficulties of running a business and making it successful. But the fact that they presented ideas of how to do this makes them think that is something that they can do and that would make them happier.
