Euthanasia Should Non-Profit Organizations Be Term Paper

It is inevitable that vested interest and even government will not always be pleased with the work some NGOs are performing. However, a number of western causes are totally alien to the culture and society in developing countries and are being propagated by a few NGOs to attract financial assistance from western countries. The role of NGOs in these areas needs to be monitored. The financial requirement of most of these non-profit organizations is being met by donations from foreign countries. Foreign countries would obviously only support the causes of their own liking and that too to the organizations of their own choice. It would be fair to acknowledge that some of these organizations would be, knowingly or unknowingly, providing cover to undesirable espionage activities. Wolf [14] accuses that the reputedly humanitarian groups, the NGOs, are now being openly integrated into Washington's overall strategy for consolidating global supremacy. He cites the recent 'rose revolution' in Georgia as an example of NGOs participation in overthrow of Shevardnadze's government.

There are, of course, opportunist people who see the foreign aid availability for NGOs as an opportunity to line up their own pockets. Remuneration being drawn by some of these individuals can be envy of anyone working in that country. There is a need to investigate the effectiveness of management of non-profit organization.

The significance of causes to the society in which the NGOs operate also needs to be investigated. The AIDS campaign saw a mushroom growth in NGOs claiming to be working for AIDS related causes while other health related issues such as provision of clean water, diseases responsible for millions of death every year looked for funds to support the real ills of the society. Non-profit Organization Management is a subject of immense...

We therefore need to:
Ascertain motives behind the support of foreign countries in supporting various causes in developing countries

Evaluate the spectrum of causes being supported by the NGOs to check if they reflect the need of the society.

Ensure that NGO operators are honestly working for the causes they claim to support and not just lining their own pockets

Investigate the audit reports of NGOs to ensure that their administrative expenses are within reasonable limits

Provide support to NGOs, which work on projects of real benefit to the masses, and people who need our support.
