Ethics Of Society Technology And The Environment Essay

Ethics of Society, Technology, And the Environment Ethics of Society, Technology and Environment

Being the member of the human society in 21st century is like to be the witness of the breathtaking technological revolution. Society, technology and environment are the three vertices of a same triangle and hence connected to each other. As a result they tend to have inter-related influences and affects. With the advancements and immense developments in the fields of science and technology, the life particularly in 21st century has taken an almost new turn. The glance on the ancient or earlier times would prove that, the life then, was completely different.

By ethics we mean, those specific standards which determine the functioning of the system for which they are defined. Ethics of society, technology and environment are thus those set generalized standards for the safety and preservation of the environment and nature along with the technological advancements. According to them, the impact of technology should be more beneficial rather harmful for both the creatures and the physical factors of this planet earth. There is a defined rule for the extent to which you can modify the nature and it is known as "possiblism." There is another theory "determinism" that no matter how intelligent the man and his inventions are, the nature do have its effects on the human lifestyle and he can't totally evade them. Both the theories work simultaneously (Keogh, July).

Different scientists have been the determining the future of this planet and the human entity in their labs. The research suggests...

In Physics of the Future, Michio Kaku has taken interviews from numerous scientists about their expectations and predictions about the future of the earth owing to the technological impact (Kaku, 2011). Almost all agree to the same point-of-view that medicine, computers, artificial intelligence, nanotechnology, energy production, and astronautics, everything will be revolutionized. The cars would float on the air cushion, the robots would take the duties of the maids and servants, the ting DNA chips would scan the human bodies, advancements in genetics would introduce the reverse ageing system and all that. But the fact the environment, nature and this planet is after all going to be a victim in a way or other. Only illustrating one example; since it is the only habitat where everybody resides in and it has to give the asylum a billion others who born every second. Consequently, the population explosion has pushed the man to inhabit the oceans and experimentations are still going on to make this selfish and commercial idea successful (McKibben, 2004). Man completely ignores the rights of other creatures who inhabit this planet when it comes to his interest. Now, it is not hard to expect that the way they have strangulated the terrestrial part would certainly make the oceanic bodies to end up in critical yet severely polluted conditions. The effect on the aquatic life is another debate. Technology would no doubt get mature but the victim ought not to be the nature or else it would go against the so called environmental and…
