¶ … Technologies to Enhance Literary Learning" has provided me with many ideas on how learning can be fostered to students. The whole article has discussed a lot of important information, though may be brief, on the topic of literacy learning as well as the different strategies and methods that help in literacy learning improvement. Thus, I find the whole article to be an important source for teachers and students who may wish to learn other ideas for enhanced literacy learning.

The first useful information in the article is the discussion on how reading and writing can affect learning. According to Henry and her colleagues, reading and writing that promotes enthusiasm to the learners can increase the possibility of a more successful process of learning. The writers suggest that Enthusiasm is generated by connecting reading and writing in thematic units, fostering peer collaboration, and creating opportunities for purposeful sharing of student writing. When students read and write about topics that engage intellect, curiosity and imagination, their enthusiasm and motivation grows.

An interactive method of learning where every student gets the chance to involve themselves in class learning not only serves as a motivation for them to join in the learning process, but also serves as an effective learning method where their learning activities can be fun because they share with each other in the learning activities.

The second useful information that I find in the article is in the discussion of how technology can improve students' learning as well as how they can develop new skills from new technologies.

With the emergence of computers and the Internet, almost all school environments these days have computer facilities. However, how such facilities can serve as effective tools in learning are sometimes not known to some schools. One good method where computers can become an effective literacy material is during mastery of skills being learned by the students. Henry and her colleagues have the following example where this can be done.

Ms. Gauding uses technology to encourage the mastery of emergent literacy concepts. Each morning, students compose digital messages, which is then read by a text-reader program. Students are encouraged to join in a choral reading of the big book computer message. Finally, to encourage rereading, copies of the morning message are printed for each student.

Technology is indeed among the provisions to learning. With the wide existence of technology, such as computers, in today's world, the article showed why it must not be ignored.

Although there are many instructional interventions that can be used in enhancing literacy learning, the process of monitoring students' performance is another element that can improve the possibility of a successful learning process. The article somehow suggests that teachers must not use technology as a replacement to the responsibilities that they must function. That is, to monitor and assess the students' progress in learning. In the article, it was suggested that Monitoring students' early literacy development through ongoing classroom assessment and then planning lessons and instructional intervention based on the diagnostic information obtained enhances achievement.

Moreover, the writers suggests that Teachers can maximize students' reading success by building on their strengths and providing reading experiences designed to meet their individual needs.

Fortunately, many learning organizations still promotes the importance of teachers' duty to serve as a bridge in children's learning. The article specifically points its focus to teachers' importance in the learning process under the section Teacher Knowledge, Insight, and Orchestration of Instruction. In this section, Henry and her colleagues also indicate how performing their duties to mediate in students' learning can also provide them with benefits.

The article also discusses several factors that can influence success in enhancing literacy learning. Following are some of them and a brief support on why they are effective means to enhanced learning.
